A class devoted to teaching Brazilian Jiu Jitsu technique to students ages 16 and older. This class consists of a warm up, drills, repetitions of Jiu Jitsu technique and specific training exercises related to the technique being covered.
The beginners class is based on technique and fitness with no rolling involved.
Uniform requirement: Jiu Jitsu Gi
Nogi is a style of grappling performed without a Gi, in which students learn techniques to defend themselves and control opponents on the ground. Class consists of our typical format, which includes warm up, drilling, practicing technique, and specific training. Class usually begins with wrestling techniques and finishes up with Nogi ground techniques. Open to students ages 16 and older.
Uniform Requirement: Rash guard or dry fit shirt and board shorts, exercise leggings or MMA shorts
Immediately following all Adult classes is something we refer to as "Live Training." It's an opportunity for students to stay after class and do sparring rounds (called "rolls, or "rolling") with their classmates. As people progress in Jiu Jitsu, they often stay longer and roll more rounds. Live training is optional, but highly recommended to optimize learning and aid in real time application of the techniques shown in class.
Kids will learn basic to advanced Jiu Jitsu techniques depending on their level and experience. Jiu Jitsu technique and drills are used together in conjunction with specific training games to assist kids in learning while promoting a fun experience every time they're on the mat.
Uniform Requirement: Jiu Jitsu Gi
Open Mat sessions are exactly as they sound. Students are able to show up and train at any time during the designated open mat. There is no technique shown, and it isn't a formal class. Open mats are a great opportunity for students to get together and work on specific techniques they would like to drill or work on more.
Uniform Requirements: Student choice of Gi or Nogi attire
